Ear Ring

𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 🎃

*𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝗥𝗘𝗗𝗥𝗨𝗠 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝟮𝟱% 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆*

Gruesome, weird, handy. These are some of the words that have been used to describe the EAR RING. A 1:1 scale acupuncture ear. This accidental creation came together in 2019 with Odlion Ottinger.

We traveled to Amsterdam to visit the David Hockney exhibition at the Van Gogh museum in a vain attempt to meet this hero, naturally we arrived late, got drunk and made our way back to my apartment in Rotterdam on the last night train home.

Next morning Odlion headed to Paris taking my spare set of keys with him.
So later that week a package arrived from Paris. A few days passed and while sitting down to breakfast one morning I opened this parcel. As I thrust a bite of my boutique muesli into my mouth I slid the contents out in front me.

Out came my spare keys followed by a silicone ear. I suddenly lost my appetite as I analysed the objects in front of me. Diligently solving the puzzle, I drilled a hole through the ear attaching my keys.

Thus creating the EAR RING. This marriage was then accompanied by a capsule for your phone number should you misplace them.

And so this objects sits on my keys now for 5 years, grubby, strange and always listening out for comments and compliments.
